When the pastor at Mandarin’s All Souls Anglican Church tells his Jacksonville flock to take a hike around 10 a.m. Sunday, it’s OK this time.
They will be going home.
The Anglican church members will walk to a new sanctuary at the former First Coast Home Center at 4042 Hartley Road, a happier walk than many made July 15, 2007, when they left the church they had called home for 28 years due to a split from the Episcopal church.
Congratulations to All Souls for finding new property. And while it still grieves me that the Diocese of Florida wouldn’t let All Souls keep their own property, give the Diocese credit for selling the property to another Christ-centered church, [url=http://crossview.org/photo-gallery.html]CrossView Church[/url].
Yeah, #1, at least +Howard didn’t sell the old building to a Muslim group for a pittance, like +Skip Adams in C. NY.
This is a very positive writeup in the local paper. I’m glad it all worked out so well. Settling in a former home improvement store lends itself to some creative ways of capitalizing on that, and it looks like All Souls is off to a good start in doing just that.
A Google search shows that this is an AMiA congregation. Hats off to Fr. Gene Stricland and the congregation for hanging in there and making it through the difficult transition to a new home and a new phase in their history. May they continue to grow and flourish!
